Host the Spark Course
Gather a group of students, faculty, or staff to learn how and to launch SPARK Groups right where they live, work, or play. This is not a course full of theories. It is a hands-on training course written in real campus environments for real campuses. Every lesson and action point comes from real life environments and was written while coaching students and ministry leaders to start SPARK Groups for many years. It includes insight from combined decades of our staff and other leader’s experiences.
Much of our outreach is focused on inviting students to meetings or events. This is a good strategy which should continue but it is not a complete one. We should also give large amounts of focus and energy towards ‘go to’ or incarnational missional strategies which are contextually embedded within different subcultures on campus. What if you could see multiple miniature versions of your church or ministry all throughout a campus?
The SPARK Course will enable you to spread a ‘go to’ vision with the students, faculty, or staff in your ministry or church. It will help you reach even more students, give you personally many practical ideas, and raise up and equip many more missional student, faculty, or staff workers out of your ministry or church.
The SPARK Course consists of eight main lessons and action points. It is designed to meet once a week or once every two weeks.
Specifically what does the SPARK Course look like each week?
- Usually the meetings consist of eating together, praying together, sharing verbally together, and listening to a brief teaching.
- Each participant gets a copy of all the SPARK course material You will track with four real student’s stories of planting successful SPARK Groups. They will share via video how they implemented that week’s action point and insights they have about that week’s lesson.
- Everyone is given a simple action step for homework. The step is different each week and builds upon last weeks action step. These weekly action steps are based upon what you learned that week.
By the end of the SPARK Course participants will have started a SPARK Group or if they are already leading a SPARK Group they will have expanded its size or influence
SPARK Courses come in three forms: Resident, Virtual, or On Demand
Resident SPARK Course
We send a certified SPARK Course Coach to your campus each week for eight weeks. All SPARK Course Coaches have hands on experience with launching and leading SPARK groups on campuses.
Virtual SPARK Course
A group of students meet on your campus but the certified SPARK Course Coach would meet with them as a group to teach each of the lessons using our live internet two way video classroom. All you need is a group of students and a computer. This also can be done with larger groups using a computer and video projector. You will be able to ask questions and interact in real time with the coach. Some Virtual SPARK Courses involve having the Coach visit your campus for one or two of the weeks while other campuses choose to do all the meetings on the internet.
On Demand SPARK Course You can take the course individually or with a group of your students at your own pace whenever you want 24 hours a day. We have combined videos of our top SPARK Coaches with other interactive elements so that you can take the SPARK Course in taped format right on our website inside our top notch learning management system and e-classroom.
The On Demand SPARK Course also includes a variety of extra documents, related external website links, teaching videos by top leaders, and tools related to SPARK Groups.
