What is the Spark Course?
Learn how and to launch a Spark Group right where you live, work, or play. This is not a course full of theories. It is a hands-on training course written in real campus environments for real campuses. Every lesson and action point comes from real life environments and was written while coaching students to start simple expressions of church over the past four years. It includes insight from combined decades of our staff and other leader’s experiences.
Ever wonder what it is like to be an overseas missionary working to plant house churches in China or to show the love of Jesus to those who feel hopeless in an apartment in Moscow? You can live that adventure right now without even leaving your campus.
Have you inwardly desired to see Jesus transform those around you in your dorm, major sequence, work, or secular club on campus but, haven’t know how or felt unequipped? There are simple answers and strategies that don’t require you to be the next mega-church pastor or Billy Graham.
Are you already pursuing forming a missional community where you are? The Spark Course will enable you to share your vision with others, help you be even more successful, give you many practical ideas, and provide you with a community of others who are doing the same thing or build even more vision into your current community.
Specifically what does the Spark Course look like?
* It meets once a week for eight weeks. Usually the meetings consist of eating together, praying together, sharing verbally together, and listening to teaching.
* Each participant gets a copy of all the Spark course material
* Each week everyone is given a simple action step for homework. The step is different each week and builds upon last weeks action step. These weekly action steps are based upon what you learned that week.
* By the end of the Spark Course you will have started a Spark Group or if you are already leading a Spark Group you will have expanded its size or influence
Spark Courses come in three forms: Resident, Virtual, or Online
Resident Spark Course
We send a certified Spark Course Coach to your campus each week for eight weeks. All SPARK Course Coaches have hands on experience with launching and leading Spark groups on campuses.
Virtual Spark Course
A group of students meet on your campus but the certified Spark Course Coach would meet with them as a group to teach each of the lessons using our live internet two way video classroom. All you need is a group of students and a computer. This also can be done with larger groups using a computer and video projector. You will be able to ask questions and interact in real time with the coach. Some Virtual Spark Courses involve having the Coach visit your campus for one or two of the weeks while other campuses choose to do all the meetings on the internet.
Online Spark Course,
You can take the course individually or with a group of your students at your own pace whenever you want 24 hours a day. As with our Resident and Virtual Courses we do enforce at least waiting one week between each lesson to give you time to to the homework action step. We have combined videos of our top Spark Coaches with other interactive elements so that you can take the Spark Course in taped format right on our website inside our top notch learning management system and e-classroom.
The Online Spark Course also includes a variety of extra documents, related external website links, teaching videos by top leaders, and tools related to Spark Groups.
